As their name says, parents can “Leave It To Beaver” for quality child care.  Mother/Daughter duo, Diane and Wanda Beavers, teamed up October 1, 2001 to launch Leave It To Beaver Child Care Center on German School Road in Richmond’s Southside.  The Center is the result of a long time dream of Diane’s to work with children and Wanda’s, to own her own business.  Today, the Center serves approximately 60 children, ages 16 months – 12 years old.

It is our intent to provide a complete educational curriculum in an innovative environment that supports the family, respects the child, builds character and leads to the well-rounded growth of all children.  Diane is the “brawn” of the team, taking a hands-on approach to everything from programming and activities to food service.  After 30 years in the banking industry, Diane retired and worked for her church daycare center.  Throughout her life, Diane was active with her church youth’s group, having a great love of children and even raising three of her own.  “She was the mother for everyone living in the neighborhood” remembers Wanda.  “She just had a way about her.”

Wanda manages the Center’s business side, handling the bookkeeping, registration, hiring, and marketing.  She earned a Masters’ degree in Education and interned as a high school counselor.

For children five or under, the Center follows the High Reach Learning curriculum, focusing on development of the whole child.  There are before and after school programs for children in kindergarten through age 12.  The after school program features homework assistance, a healthy snack, games, videos, and recreational play.

The Center is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) and accepts DSS scholarship funds.
